Superior North EMS is doing some things right when it comes to supporting paramedics’ mental health.
Chief Wayne Gates tells us that’s according to a new document announced by the provincial government, which looks at how to help paramedics deal with stresses of the job like PTSD.
He says a few years ago they started looking at new steps, such as looking out for each other with peer support groups.
Gates says that it can be tough to figure out how to create mental health supports because everyone deals with stress differently.
