Ford Promises More Long-Term Care Beds

PC leader Doug Ford is releasing some of his health care platform.

Ford says one of his first promises is to listen to health care professionals, especially those on the front lines.

He’s also proposing to creating 30,000 new long term beds over the next ten years, which is similar to a plan the Ontario Liberals announced in the recent budget.

Ford points out one difference in his approach, claiming he will have 15,000 beds in place over the next five years.

He also emphasized that he’s “dead against” creating overdose prevention sites to help deal with the problems associated with illegal drug use in Ontario.

Ford says people with drug dependances should be supported by getting them help to stop using drugs.

He feels that overdose prevention sites “keep feeding” problematic drug use. (File Photo)
