Thunder Pride Getting Ready For Celebrations

Thunder Bay’s LGBTQ community is completing preparations for this year’s Thunder Pride Festival.

Chair Ken Miller tells us the theme this year is Honouring Our Allies to put the spotlight on those in the community who have been with the festival from the start.

“We thought it was about time that we reciprocated that gesture that they made, and show support back for all the people who’ve been there for us through the last seven years.”

Organizers are looking for more people to become involved in the festivities.

Miller says it helps in making the events a success.

He also hints they may be looking at getting a celebrity to take part.

“I can’t tell you who yet, but we have put out a couple of special requests, some big names, to have them in the parade.”

The festival takes place June 9th until the 16th.

Thunder Pride is calling for groups who want to get involved in the celebrations, including the annual Pride in the Park, to start registering now. (File Photo)
