The town of Fort Frances is revealing information on a new lawsuit filed by Couchiching First Nation.
It mentions the lawsuit in a pamphlet that outlines the town’s own legal battles over Point Park.
The pamphlet was distributed to Fort Frances area households this week.
It states the town became aware of the lawsuit in which Couchiching is seeking an injuction to stop the operation of the dam.
No other details are explained.
The town says this could have significant impacts to property owners on both side of the border and to the town’s power agreement.
The same pamphlet also provides some information into the ongoing dispute over Point Park.
The town states its made many attempts to settle the issues around Point Park, noting proposals put forward were rejected.
No mention is made of what those proposals included.
Ownership is one area still in dispute.
A 2010 court ruling has allowed the town to continue operating the area as a park until that issue is resolved. (Staff Photo)
