Police HQ Needs Many Upgrades

The parking lot at Thunder Bay Police headquarters is in bad shape and is in need of repair.

Spokesperson Chris Adams explains that the City is on the hook for the bill.

“There have been occasions where half of the parking lot in the back has been flooded out just because of heavy rainfall and the way the settling has impacted the drainage.”

A Ministry of Labour inspection highlighted a number of issues including the dangers of the parking lot.

Meanwhile, Adams says they’ve started asking themselves if it’s even worth fixing up their existing building on Balmoral.

They would like the City to start considering plans for a new police headquarters.

Police moved into their new building in 1987 and had all of their services under one roof by 1993. (File photo)
