Dog owners in Thunder Bay should note the recent outbreak of canine cough in the area is not the new type of dog flu discovered in the U.S. and in southern Ontario.
News broke this week that several dogs were found with the disease in the Windsor region.
Local veterinarian Dr. Alec Smith says the new strain of dog flu is not a concern in Thunder Bay.
Smith stresses however, they have now identified the local virus which was reported in the fall, and it’s a completely different ailment. (File photo)
