The city is losing its first and only Urban Forester.
After 20 years at City Hall, Shelley Vescio is leaving the position as of Friday to take a job with Forestry Futures Trust Ontario.
Vescio says building up the programing from scratch has been her proudest achievement working for the city as well has changing public attitudes about the value of urban trees.
Most recently she’s been the driving force in alerting the community to the emerald ash borer and the threat it presents to the ash trees in the city.
