Negotiations Don’t Result In Contract

The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association isn’t pleased with the latest bargaining with the local board.

The two sides sat down yesterday with a Ministry of Labour appointed Conciliation Officer and have yet to reach an agreement.

Officials say no further bargaining dates have been scheduled.

Elementary school teachers with the Catholic board have been in a legal strike position since last June and are continuing their Work To Rule actions until a new deal can be reached.

Meantime, the Chair of the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board says the board is disappointed both sides couldn’t come to an agreement.

The Director of Education, Pino Tassone, reiterated that seniority continues to be at the heart of the disagreement with the board refusing to move from its position on the issue.
