NDP Says Hydro Rebates Won’t Help All Rural Residents

The opposition at Queen’s Park is questioning the provincial government’s Ontario Rural Support Program.

The NDP say only a fraction of rural residents are actually eligible for the 20 hydro percent rebate.

Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault says the rebate targets Hydro One customers who have the highest delivery charges.

NDP critic John Vantof says there are 1.8 million people who are considered rural, but most won’t be getting the rebate.
