Good economic news for the port. The old Port Arthur Shipyard and former Lakehead Marine, is now in the hands of a new company.
Acadia News has confirmed Heddle Marine, which bills itself as Canada’s leading marine repair facilities has, through a holding company, purchased the north side waterfront complex.
An official for the purchaser says they look forward to opening and operating as a ship repair facility but there’s no indication as to when that might happen or how many workers might be employed.
A spokesperson for Heddle Marine says a formal announcement will be made in the near future.
The firm operates in southern Ontario and in Atlantic Canada.
