Eco Superior is asking you to pitch in to help clean up the waterfront at Kam River Park on Saturday with the Waterfront Walkabout. It runs from 10:30 until noon tomorrow.
Litter Prevention Coordinator Shannon Costigan says it’s targeting plastic waste, which she estimates makes up 80% of the litter in the Great Lakes.
Costigan adds data about the trash will be submitted to the eXXpedition Great Lakes 2016, as part of the world’s largest simultaneous shoreline clean-up. Other efforts taking place across the Great Lakes basin will include water sampling as well, surveying plastics and micro-plastics in the province’s waterways.
