Andrea Horwath says the province is giving with one hand and taking with the other.
The NDP Leader says she’s concerned Ontario’s ambitious goals to balance the budget means big cuts are coming, pointing to dwindling education spending, namely $430 million the government plans to take out of that sector.
Horwath also says expanding the pool of seniors who qualify for a low-income drug program comes at the cost of seniors at or above the income threshold.
That change was also unveiled last week in the province’s 2016 budget.
She says while more seniors will qualify for the Ontario Drug Benefit program, middle- to high-income seniors will see their drug costs increase. (File photo)
