St. Ignatius Earns Best Grade In Local Rankings

St. Ignatius is at the top of its class locally, in the Fraser Institute’s latest rankings of Ontario’s high schools.

According to figures released today, the school earned a 6.8 grade on a scale of one to 10, landing it in the 233 spot on a provincial list of over 600. It leads the pack for another year, despite falling slightly below its five-year average.

While the Catholic board claimed the top two spots, Sir Winston Churchill ranked third among the seven Thunder Bay high schools included, and first within the public board with a grade of 5.8.

At the other end of the scale, Superior CVI is the lowest rated school in the city, with a score of 4.8.

The think tank’s annual report card grades public and Catholic secondary schools across the province, according to student performance on tests of literacy and math skills.
