Some shocking testimony at the city inquest into the death of seven First Nation youth.
It came when Louis Bystrican of the city police told about his investigation into the drowning death of 15-year-old Jethro Anderson in November, 2000. The detective noted that in 2004 a person told police he had heard two girls claim they had killed Anderson. The detective further testified there was very little credible information in the person’s statement. Presiding coroner Dr. David Eden told the jury to essentially disregard that testimony.
Earlier, a retired city police detective said it shouldn’t have taken six days before the Criminal Investigations Branch got involved in the Anderson case. Allan Sharrock testified this morning he was concerned that his department at the time wasn’t asked to get involved after Anderson was reported missing.
