News that the HGS Canada call centre in the city is closing isn’t a total surprise to Thunder Bay’s Doug Murray.
The head of the Community Economic Development Commission notes the company is citing the inability to attract and retain employees.
Murray says the availability of labour in the city has been a concern to the CEDC and they continue to work on it. He believes the training of people will have to be a major focus if we are to attract other businesses here.
Murray also suggests we may have to focus in finding businesses with higher paying jobs. (File photo)
