Ontario Commits Northern Industrial Rate

The provincial government is committing funding to continue the northern industrial electricity rate.

The Ministers of Natural Resources and Northern Development made the announcement today at Thunder Bay’s Resolute Mill.

The province will provide up to 120 million dollars per year for the program.

The initiative started out as a three year program in 2010 and has since been extended.

It recognizes the needs of northern industries that have higher energy costs due to climate and distance to markets.
