Mayor Keith Hobbs says he’s caught off guard by federal Minister Greg Rickford’s comments on the event centre funding.
Rickford told our newsroom yesterday the city has always known the centre was never on the government’s funding radar with an arena included.
Hobbs says he doesn’t understand where the misunderstanding over the facility began.
Hobbs says the City understands there are rules for any funding and was asking for leeway in interpreting the eligibility criteria to allow for funding of the Convention Centre component only. (File Photo)
