LU’s Atac Building Hit With Flood

Water problems at Lakehead University.

University spokesperson Hugh Briggs says that the Atac building was evacuated today because of a frozen water pipe that broke causing some flooding but it has since reopened. Briggs says there is water damage, but the extent of that damage is not known.

He says until all the water dries up they won’t be able to make any accurate estimates. Briggs says one of the building’s elevators has been put out of service until the problem is rectified.

Meantime, the CJ Saunders Fieldhouse was also closed for a time after a weekend watermain break. It has since reopened as well.
