A Call To Central Streetcar Work

There’s a call for Bombardier to centralize some of its streetcar work.

The comment comes from Unifor spokesperson Andy Savela following news that 45 more workers at the plant will be temporarily laid off on Friday because of a delay in getting parts that are made in other countries.

Savela says that doesn’t make sense. He says when you go to a multi site process and you’re getting your parts and components from various areas, you lose control of the process, especially the timing of the parts.

Savela says he would like to work more cooperatively with the company on the issue.
