Sandy Beach Residents Remain In Limbo

Sandy Beach residents are getting antsy because they still haven’t heard from the City about the state of their land leases.
Residents who live on Sandy Beach do not own the land their homes are built on.
Homeowner Michael O’Reilly says they just want to be treated fairly.
The lease expires December 31st. Council passed a resolution dealing with the leases but didn’t publicly say what they decided. A meeting between the two sides will be held on Thursday.
Meanwhile, it looks like the City is heading towards a budget deficit. Staff are projecting ending the year 4 million dollars in the red.
Officials were originally expecting a seven million dollar deficit but they were able to find 3 million dollars in savings.
The City’s Legal Services, Transit Division and Police are all expected to end the budget year with a negative balance.
