Two families managed to escape unhurt following a major house fire on the south side. Firefighters were called to a blaze in the two story duplex at 105-A Redwood Avenue around 1:45 this morning.
Platoon Chief Dan Hyvarinen says there was heavy smoke coming from the building when crews arrived and one side of the duplex suffered severe damage. Smoke alarms alerted the residents and all evacuated safely.
