O’Conner Point Morphing Into Election Issue

A Shuniah resident is hoping to keep O’Conner Point “top of mind” in this years municipal election.
The once public beach has been fenced off and is now a restricted area.
Marcel Tardif believes the whole issue has become a legal mess and the current council could have solved the problem by simply selling the property.
He says “in reality it should have been sold 15 years ago when residents in that area started complaining “.
Tardif claims the problem has already cost the municipality 150 thousand dollars and will take at least two years to finalize.
He calls it an “unneeded, unwanted and unnecessary expense”.
Municipal officials plan to respond to Tardif’s claims which they say are not true.
