Thunder Bay’s Francophone community will be celebrating Franco-Festival with six days of virtual and in-person activities.
The Centre Francophone is hosting their 9th annual festival from Tuesday, September 21st to Sunday, September 26th.
President Claudette Gleeson says they will have something for all ages, including a science activity night, a French-language story time, and an online chat for Anglophones who want to practice their French.
The main event is a “mega-concert” happening virtually on Saturday, alongside a street festival outside their Van Norman Street office.
The concert featuring the group “Deux Saisons et Les Rats d’Swompe” is being streamed by Francophone groups across Ontario to celebrate Franco-Ontarian Day.
Gleeson says they hope to be able to celebrate differently next year.
“We want, and need, to have it in person. Next year is our tenth anniversary,” she points out. “We are already dreaming that we really want it in person, and hope that everybody can come celebrate with us in-person on our street.”
