This is the second Victoria Day long weekend in the pandemic.
Much like last year, health officials are recommending celebrations be limited to those in your household.
Medical Officer of Health with the local health unit Dr. Janet DeMille says this will be key to preventing any spikes in cases
“Even though we have at this time very low rates of COVID-19, we know that could change quickly and unexpectedly, and what drives that change is people getting together in an indoor environment,” she explains.
Certain outdoor recreation areas opened up on Saturday.
DeMille emphasizes it is still important to follow physical distancing guidelines outdoors now that the province is allowing outdoor exercise.
“If you’re participating in some of the recreational activities that are reopening, please be mindful that there’s a maximum of five people and please maintain social distancing,” she explains.
