Driver Charged After Multiple Collisions

A 24-year-old Thunder Bay man has been charged for having three times the legal amount of alcohol in his blood while driving.

Thunder Bay police say they were called early Saturday evening to the Whalen Street area in the north end to reports of a possibly impaired driver.

There were multiple 911 calls concerning an orange pickup truck involved in numerous collisions, and eventually police add the truck had hit a newspaper stand and multiple street signs.

Police found the damaged truck on Brent Street, with the accused passed out in the driver’s seat and the truck still in gear.

Police add there were open bottles of liquor in the truck.

The accused appeared in bail court and remains in custody with another court date scheduled.
