Unemployment Rate Drops %1

Ontario’s unemployment rate is improving.

The province saw a 1% drop in February to 9.2%, with a net gain of 100,000 jobs.

Most were part-time employment.

Still, the overall employment gain is the largest for Ontario since September.

Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Vic Fedeli says while the numbers are positive, thousands of workers, families and businesses are still feeling the impact of the global pandemic.

Fedeli does see light at the end of the tunnel, and adds business owners are key to the province’s economic recovery.
