Exploding COVID Cases Concerns Mayor

Mounting concern for Thunder Bay’s mayor over the shocking rise of COVID-19 cases.

Bill Mauro tells us the 111 new cases from Sunday will be brought up at Monday night’s city council meeting.

“One thing, for example, is I have a motion to try and deal with the service provision of buses, and try to control some of the spread,” says the Mayor.

He adds he also spoke to medical officer of health Dr. Janet DeMille Sunday, noting she would be better to speak to what they spoke of.

Thunder Bay’s mayor says they are also working to vaccinate more police officers, among other front line workers, with help from other levels of government. “We continue to work with the province and federal government on supports for the isolation [centre], I wrote a letter to the minister again ensuring protocols are in place for the correctional facility. So, there’s lots of moving parts.”

Mauro adds he has received a bit of public response since Sunday’s numbers.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
