Thirty New Cases, Hospital Cancels Some Surgeries

Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting 30 new COVID-19 cases in the region.

The current active case count is 462 and there have been 37 cases resolved.

There has been one death.

Meanwhile, the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre reports it has 51 patients admitted who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Of those, 14 are in the Intensive Care Unit.

The current overall occupancy at the regional is approximately 85 per cent.

The rising case counts have forced the hospital to prioritize surgeries to outpatient and emergency procedures only.

A spokesperson says any procedures that had to be cancelled will be rescheduled after the current wave subsides.
