A Few Still Brave The Cold To Skate

The cold weather is not stopping some Thunder Bay residents from skating at the marina.

Joyce Carlson was braving the elements with her grandchildren on the Family Day holiday for about an hour, adding they felt fine amid COVID-19 restrictions, which she felt most people were following. “We’ve had lots of fun, seen maybe about ten people out here today. And we’re very happy the heat is back on for the hands.”

She feels the timing to ease the lockdown is good, and looks forward to getting the vaccine.

“I do a bunch of reading on them, and the different companies have different ways of putting the COVID-19 vaccines together. Everyone has different thoughts, but I think it’s necessary,” says Carlson.

The Thunder Bay woman adds as long as people have been following the health guidelines the area should be in good shape.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
