McKellar Rep Excited To Return

It’s back to full strength at city council with 13 members.

McKellar’s Brian Hamilton is happy to return after two months off for personal reasons, adding he still heard from people who want strong fiscal management and maintenance of services. “They want to see some big capitol projects being done in the near term. I’m talking about VictoriaVille, I’m talking about potential upgrades to the Conservatory, over and above what we’ve already committed.”

The city councillor adds he is pleased to see a million dollars set aside for infrastructure maintenance in the upcoming budget.

Not only is he pumped for tonight’s meeting, but also tomorrow night when budget discussions begin, and the challenges facing council.

“We’re seeing one of our lowest growth periods, and this is pre-COVID, and probably will be post-COVID. So, it’s a question of what we can do when our revenues are shrinking and our expenses are rising,” says Hamilton.

The McKellar rep adds he read every comment of the 500 received in a public survey of how to manage the budget.
