Driver Faces Charges In Boxing Day Pursuit

A 42 year old Thunder Bay man will be back in court to answer for a number of charges.

The charges stem from a lengthy pursuit, both with wheels and feet, on Boxing Day.

The man was caught on Begin Place after trying to flee police following a collision involving his SUV and a truck at the corner of Arthur and Edward Streets.

The accused was found to be a suspended driver and in possession of a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, and a non-firearm prohibited weapon.

The charges include:

  • Six counts of operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon in a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Failure to Stop After Accident
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon
  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
