Inflation Rate Barely Budges Up

The cost of goods and services in Thunder Bay has risen by less than half a percent.

Statistics Canada has released the latest inflation rate for August, for the country, noting the consumer price index rose by 0.1 percent in one year.

The national agency says that matched the 0.1 per cent year-over-year increase we saw in July. Gas prices were down by around 11% in August, following a nearly 15% drop in July.

But prices were up in several other categories including personal care services, jewelry, passenger vehicles and beef.
