Expect Heavy Rain With Thunderstorm Watch

We have a severe thunderstorm watch for the Thunder Bay area this afternoon.

Environment Canada says to expect wind gusts to 100kms an hour, with nickel size hail and heavy rain.

The temperature is expected to peak at around 21 Celcius.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay

Conditions will become favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms beginning this morning.

Hazard: Wind gusts up to 100 km/h, nickel size hail and locally heavy rain.

Timing: This morning and afternoon.

Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
