It’s been an unusual start for the City’s new Mobility Coordinator.
Darrick Smith started his new gig in November and tells us it’s been an interesting experience in the time of COVID.
“I actually have eclipsed working from home longer than I’ve worked in the office now and it’s been really interesting but I really have to thank the amazing team I work with,” Smith says.
The new mobility coordinator says they’ve focused this year on expanding the multi-use trail network along the Balmoral/Harbour Expressway area.
The mobility coordinator also find a new Canada Automobile Association survey interesting. It shows that more Canadians would cycle if there were more bike lanes.
“It’s awesome that CAA does surveys like this, with having automobile in their name. It’s awesome that they work in active transportation as well,” Smith adds.
The survey says better cycling infrastructure was the number one reason Canadians cited for not riding their bike more.
