New Docs Working In Region

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine is welcoming 64 newly graduated doctors to the region.

The new doctors will practice medicine with the supervision of a licensed physician while learning about a particular medical specialty.

NOSM’s residents will be living and learning in one of 12 communities across Northern Ontario.

Meanwhile, The Northern Ontario School of Medicine’s MD program is now offering two new medical student seats exclusively for military candidates.

“By partnering with the Department of National Defense we will prepare Canadian military physicians to treat underserviced and remote communities across Canada and around the world,” said Dr. Sarita Verma, NOSM Dean, President and CEO.

“NOSM has been accepting military candidates to the MD program for several years. The difference now is that we are able to increase the opportunity to get into NOSM by adding two additional dedicated spots for qualified military applicants,” Dr. Verma explained.
