LTC Employees Will Be Compensated Properly

Ontario’s Minister of Long Term Care says workers who now must work in only one old age home will be compensated.

The new rule doesn’t allow staff to work in more than one old age home, something Merrilee Fullerton says will help stop the spread of the coronavirus.

“They will be able to take a leave of absence from their other job and they will be compensated for that. We are also coordinating with the federal government to see what can be done on wages and compensation and that work is ongoing,” Fullerton said.

The Minister thanks long term care workers for helping keep the province’s vulnerable population safe during these trying times.

Fullerton says once the pandemic is over they will continue to work on revitalizing the long term care home system.
