Charges Laid After Thunder Bay Jail Assault

Two men are facing charges after an assault at the Thunder Bay district jail.

Thunder Bay police say they were called to the jail just after 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, to find two victims and two suspects, who were all inmates. One man was taken to hospital for serious injuries, which police say appear to be consistent with a stabbing, but are not believed to be life-threatening. The other victim was treated at the jail.

A 33-year old Thunder Bay man is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, while a 26-year old London man faces the same, but also breach of probation.

Police are looking into what lead to the assault. Both men remain in custody after an appearance in bail court via video Wednesday.
