Lake Superior is creeping close to record high levels.
In its latest flood watch, the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority says water levels on the big lake continue to remain well above average and will stay that way for quite some time.
At the beginning of April, Lake Superior was only two centimetres below its record high set in 1986 and is currently 30 centimetres higher than average and four centimetres higher than it was last year.
The Authority expects water levels to continue rising during the spring and summer as they usually do and “are expected to remain above average for a prolonged period of time.”
