As Expected, Unemployment Rates Rise

Not surprisingly, Canada’s unemployment rate has taken a jump for the month of March with COVID-19 raging across the globe.

The government’s latest figures show it at 7.8%, a rise of more than 2 points.

The government has been attempting to help over 1-million people who’ve been out of work with aid packages.

Looking at Thunder Bay, government figures show the unemployment rate in February was 5.3-percent, in March it was 6.1%.

Ontario went from 5.5 percent to 7.6%.
