Catholic Teachers’ Union Suspends Strikes

If your child attends an English Catholic school, they will be going to class on Tuesday.

The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board says the union representing its Elementary, Secondary and Occasional teachers and support staff has cancelled a walkout on Tuesday.

The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association says the mediator has called both sides back to the bargaining table on Monday February 24th, so they are suspending their rotating strikes planned for that week.

Meanwhile, neither the Catholic or Lakehead boards are affected by a one-day strike next Friday by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation.

Teachers unions in Ontario are in a contract dispute with the Ford Government over issues like class sizes.
