Lake Superior Water Level Above Average

There is some concern from the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority about the water level of Lake Superior.

Chair Tammy Cook tells us at the beginning of the month the level was one centimetre above its record high in 1986, 38 centimetres higher than what is considered average, and 10 centimetres higher than it was last year at this time. She adds high lake levels are expected to stay well into this year.

The authority chair adds right now about seven percent of the entire lake is ice-covered compared to over 90 percent last year.
