VIDEO: Progress Made On Snowbank Clearing

City road crews continue to work clearing all the snow from city sidewalks and snowbanks.

Roads manager Brad Adams tells us the snow is loaded into contractor trucks before hauling it away.

“We have a snow dump on Mission Island, that we dump all the snow at,” says the roads manager.

He adds they’ll evaluate by the end of this week to see how much is left but hopes to be done by next week. Adams says they take advantage of the fact next to no one is around overnight and use the whole road.

“Our city forces are pulling the snow away from the sidewalks onto the road, putting them into rows, and we’re blowing it into contractor supplied trucks. All of the trucks that we use for hauling snow at night time are provided by a contract service, made up of different supply service providers throughout the community,” he says.

He says they’re working around the clock.

“We’re concentrating at night time on arterial collector roadways, and daytime we’re into some of the older areas of the city where we have more on-street parking and less off-street parking to deal with those space issues,” says Adams.
