Roots to Harvest, Beendigen and the Elizabeth Fry Society are sharing $35,000 from the Thunder Bay Community Foundation.
Foundation Executive Director Alexandra Calderon says the funds come from a partnership between themselves and the Canadian government’s Equality Fund.
“These projects for me really seem to be on the frontline of change, driving transformation in our community and just ensuring our community is more equitable for women,” Calderon says.
Beendigen will be offering traditional teachings in a workshop setting, Elizabeth Fry will be hosting a health and wellness centre inside a correctional centre, Roots to Harvest will be helping immigrant women get on the job training.
