With the recent storm, it’s a good idea to give yourself enough time to clear off the snow from your vehicle. Thunder Bay Police’s Sgt. Bill Pollock tells us there are serious consequences for not brushing the snow off. “Under the Highway Traffic Act, there is a charge for no clear view to the front which means snow or frost, and they do have the same charge for no clear view to the rearview or sides and the fine is $110.”
Pollock notes even if you’ve cleaned off your windshields, snow on the roof of your car can slide down onto your path of view and that’s why it’s important to take the time to clear the roof off. He adds so far they’ve only nabbed a couple of drivers this year who were driving their vehicles with snow and ice blocking their view.
Police remind you to “drive with extra caution; give yourself extra time to reach your destination; if you don’t have to drive today, consider staying put.”
