New Event Created For Those Who Go Substance Free

If you are looking for a night of music and dancing, without alcohol, you might want to check out Xmas Soberfest 2019.

Organizer Ron Kanutski tells us many bands, including a Creedance Clearwater Revival cover band, will play at Sister Margaret Smith Centre tonight with a specific purpose in mind. “There is a large population here in Thunder Bay who choose to live their life without drugs or alcohol, and I just wanted to create a social venue for a couple of days where they could have that.”

The Soberfest organizer adds he still goes to nightclubs, but notes his event is for people wanting alcohol free. “We’re putting it in a place where drugs and alcohol are frowned upon, they don’t want that in the building. There’s a treatment centre there.”

He says alcohol free clubs are growing in popularity, and it’ll be just a matter of time before he sees whether Thunder Bay is interested.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
