New Nature Trail In Big Trout Bay

You can explore a new hiking trail in Neebing starting tomorrow.

Local Program Director with the Nature Conservancy of Canada Gary Davies explains they are opening the nine-kilometre James Duncan Nature Trail on Big Trout Bay, in memory of their late Regional Vice President.

“He’d spent over 20 years working for the Nature Conservancy of Canada, passionately pursuing conservation including the Big Trout Bay property. That’s why we’re honouring his memory with the naming of the trail,” Davies explains.

He says the idea came from Duncan, who passed away last year at age 55.

“He’d shared that sort of vision of having a trail to provide access for the public to enjoy and learn from the property, so yes, I think it was part of James’ long-term vision,”

The trail can be accessed off of Highway 61 45 minutes outside the city, through Little Trout Bay Road or Memory Road. Parking is available at the Little Trout Bay parking lot or on Memory Road.
