City Could Get $10.4M Transit Funding

We could see $10.4 million from the federal government to upgrade the city’s transit system.

The money could go toward improvements like 12 new specialized buses and four conventional buses, and 40 new bus shelters.

13 projects have been put forward for federal investments.

They also include 21 new pedestrian crossings to allow easier access to transit stops, which would cost $730,000.

Another request is for $870,000 for an electronic fare system.

The provincial government nominated the projects, which have to be approved by the feds.
