Fundraiser Coffee Breaks Return

The local chapter of the Alzheimer Society is back with one of its main fundraisers.

You can sign up to offer a Coffee Break starting next month.

Spokesperson Morgan Carleton-Shubat tells us they hope to raise $10,000 for local programs and services.

“Minds in Motion, which individuals living with dementia are able to attend with their care partners, that is an eight-week program that runs once a week for two hours. They get out, they get to do some exercise.”

She adds their programs also include a four-week art program that runs twice in the fall.

Coffee breaks see people enjoy tea and coffee, donate money to the society, and learn more about the disease.

If you want to host a coffee break, Carleton-Shubat tells you they provide you with the supplies.

“[It includes] medium-roast coffee grounds and decaf coffee grounds, [and] little coffee cup cut-outs so then whoever is attending their coffee break can show their support by writing their name and sticking it up on the wall to display. We provide them with the rules, the regulations, little posters, banners, [and] balloons.”
