A Liberian man is thanking Thunder Bay for helping with community outreach, as that country rebuilds following Ebola virus outbreaks.
James Ngenda tells us a local group called Medical Equipment Modernization Opportunity shipped supplies from Thunder Bay.
“They were able to ship a tractor, that has been very, very helpful for us, in our work, community development efforts, to help re-construct our road in our community. To help me with my farming.”
The Liberian man adds a local group called Life Water Canada helped drill hundreds of wells.
He also appreciates machinery and supplies sent to those suffering.
“To families who were quarantined, that had no food, no one could go out, there was no job at this time. The economy was basically at a halt, and people had to survive.”
The Liberian man adds a vaccine to fight the virus, which attacks the immune system, was developed west of Thunder Bay.
“Canada has been very instrumental, because a vaccine was developed on the prairies, in Winnipeg, and I couldn’t believe it.”
Ngenda has done missionary work with his wife, who’s from Vancouver.
