Thunder Bay’s Police Association is addressing recent graffiti that criticized the police.
In a statement, they say they’ve become the target of negative public comments like graffiti that read “police stop throwing people into the river.”
They note there are defamatory allegations circulating that two police officers recently attempted to drown an Indigenous girl.
The organization calls the accusations uninformed, falsified rumours that currently exist about the local police.
The association feels the Police Services Board and the Police Service have chosen to stay silent about the public trust issues our local police continue to experience, they felt it was necessary to speak out.
A representative for the Police Service says they will not be commenting.
